Channels
Two Person Exhibition with Dmitry Strakovsky
Galleria Imaginarium, Lodz, Poland, 2012
Held in conjunction with Move Light Festival in Lodz, Poland, Channels explored systems of connection, their deconstruction and reconstruction. As visitors played video games in the gallery, Strakovsky’s works deconstructed and reconstructed imagery and audio from their quests in real time and space, with the restructured imagery being shown on a monitor in the gallery. Carbonneau’s video installations highlighted the architecture of the space as well our cultures connection to water. Two videos captured simultaneously of upstream and downstream Vistula River in Warsaw, Poland were projected on opposite sides of the gallery space. These works, combined with videos captured of major maritime shipping routes in Asia, highlighted waterways as channels that move commodity but that also connect international communities.
